We would also like to remind you of the following:
Tilt your head back slightly and open your mouth wide enough for the Priest or EM to work with (say 2″ or so). Stick your tongue out until it touches the outside of your bottom lip. The priest or EM will place the Host on your tongue, slip your tongue back into your mouth while closing your mouth. Watch: wait until the Priest or EM has his or her fingers safely out of the way before closing your mouth. We really want to avoid having the priest or EM touching your mouth.
Pope Francis has designated every fourth Sunday of July "The World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly." Today it falls one day before the feast of Sts. Joachim and Anne, the parents of Mary and the grandparents of Jesus. In announcing this special day, the Pope asked grandparents and seniors, "What is our vocation today, at our age? It is "to preserve our roots, to pass on the faith to the young, and to care for the little ones . . . The future of the world depends on this covenant between young and old." May we honor that covenant by protecting from harm every human life, regardless of age or infirmity, from conception until natural death!
